For new survivors you many have seen or heard about being shot at and killed on sight. Being new to the game you will pick up on ways and survival tips to keep you alive, which is the point of the game overall Granted you can and do have the choice when it arises to start Shooting Survivors to Stay Alive.
You can in fact survive in DayZ without shooting every other survivor you meet. I do this regularly and even walk the beach and look for new survivors to help out or let them know what to do, and what to not do.
Too shoot or not too shoot? Is the survivor truly in need of help?
Shooting Survivors to Stay Alive
But there is always the risk of finding the hostile player, and a whole other concept on avoiding those players. By Not shooting at every player it gives you the chance to socialize and make some friends/allies along the way of your journeys, which to me is far more valuable than the loot I can find or lose.
Grouping up and working together takes DayZ game play to the next level. You have companionship and another person to watch your back, and to give you optional advice on what to do in certain situations.
Being cautious and having the ability to spot a hostile player is half the battle of staying alive. Most people I have played with have studied the game and how it works. For instance, instead of running into the town and getting the loot you want, take the time to scout it out. See if there are other players there and take note of their behavior, are they shooting everyone they see? Are they cautious and caring with their movements and how they interact with other players? These are a few tips that will save your life and keep you alive in DayZ.
Finding friends is a great way to get ahead and survive in DayZ!
When it comes down to “shoot or not shoot” you have to be aware, careful and be sure to help those who you know who need it. It may put a smile on your face and you may even come to enjoy it more then looting NW Airfield, as I now do. Maybe karma will bring you some awesome loot and good friends along the way! Happy hunting, and remember to Stay Alive!
