DayZ Mod raises ArmA II Sales:

With the ever recent surge of new user signups that have been brought by the recent Steam summer sale which included ArmA II: Combined Operations, along with other titles. With most of the new purchases just to play DayZ (I’m guilty of this too). The game has jumped to the top of Steams sales charts! With this much interest it wont be long until the game breaks a million users!

A recent interview with VG247, creator Dean Hall discussed about potentially cashing in on the latest game’s hype and to make it a standalone title, but putting a “Minecraft” spin on the game. He states:

“I want to see it become a standalone game, following the Minecraft model of a low price point, but that will only work if we say that everyone is going to pay,” Hall said. “In order for people to not feel ripped off we need to have a load of new content; so, things like base-building, tidying and cleaning up animations and add ragdoll physics as the like.”

With the talk of a standalone release of the game, it will depend if they can work out a publishing agreement with Bohemia Interactive. I highly recommend that if you have ArmA II, check out Dayz. It’s kill or be killed survival nature will give you a gaming experience like no other.
